Todd White art is some of my favorite. He was one of the lead artists on the cartoon SpongeBob SquarePants. It is funny because that is where he actually picked up a lot of the style that he uses in his art today. He does the gritty character sketch style of art. His human subjects take on a caricature look that is somewhere between animation, caricature and portrait. He says he focuses a lot on hands, but I see prominence in the eyes of his characters. I see a cross between Picasso and Renoir in his work. The male characters look more cartoonish while the female characters are a study in sex appeal. Eyes, lips, cleavage and other physical attributes are embellished and overemphasized to draw attention. The perspective of his work is the rawness of the contemporary female with the contemporary male being lost in the background of the canvas.
