Drama Course: Unveil the Actor in You

Joining a performing arts group has been my most wanted dream. I am not a natural-born actor; hence I am somewhat unsure if I can ever make it as an artist. I was surprised to be included in the list of students who will represent our school in a free drama course which will be conducted by an alumnus, who is now a professional personality in the film industry.

We were all excited to listen and learn from an expert in the field of acting and stage production. The drama course has incorporated lots of interactive activity which taught us how to confidently speak, act and perform in front of the camera. There was even an exercise where we were asked to do simultaneous display of emotions. Indeed, such course started to unveil the actor in me. I never imagined myself doing such challenging tasks, but with the help of our acting guru, I was able to overcome my fears and hesitations.

After having attended the free acting course, my desire to pursue my interest to become an actor has gone to a higher level.

If you live in Texas and love to be the center of attention, then maybe you should consider getting into the entertainment business. Acting and Modeling Auditions can be really tough to find in Texas when you are new to the industry, the most important thing though is to keep motivated and keep doing research to figure out what you need to do to find these auditions.

Auditions are the gateway to the jobs in the entertainment business, and casting directors are the ones that will decide whether or not you get to go through that door. So when you go to an audition, you can’t just expect that your good looks are going to land you the job, having good people skills is a must to help sell yourself to the casting director to land the gigs. Actors especially need to get to the auditions, acting is much more competitive and the best way to get the experience necessary to qualify for better roles is to start off as a extra. Working as a extra in television, movies and theatre will help you see first hand how to act professionally on set and possibly help you make some great connections within the industry.

Models who are just starting off in search of Texas Modeling Jobs should first start off looking for promotional modeling work if they are having trouble. Promotional modeling jobs happen to be the most abundant form of work for models all over, even in some of the smaller populated places have use for promotional models at bars, malls and outdoor events like fairs and festivals.

Yet for both there is one other alternative and that is the talent agencies that help both find work and connect them to clients who are in need of the service of actors and models.

Charleston SC Acting Jobs

My friend Jen is an extra on the Lifetime Movie Network show Army Wives. She has been an extra on the show for enough years that she is one of the permanent ones and has her own uniforms. She has auditioned for other acting roles, but being an actor scares her. From this she has had other bit parts as an extra in movies, and once sat in on a table read.

She could have actually been auditioning for the part that she filled in reading, but wasn’t really interested. She likes being in the background and I think the speaking role scared her. However, she did so well, that the character she read (who was nameless in the script), was named for her! Someone ended up in that movie with Jen’s middle name Kristine, which I thought was cool.

She used to date the prop master on Army Wives, and he got her a part in a commercial that was being filmed in Baltimore. She didn’t even need an audition. She was supposed to drive up there where the other actors were, but a few days before the shoot, she broke her kneecap in a mishap and had to cancel her trip. I offered to drive her so she wouldn’t miss the opportunity, but she wasn’t up for it. They could have shown her wearing a dress to hide her cast, but she was still in too much pain at the time. It was a good paying gig and I was sorry for her that she had to miss it.

Charleston SC is becoming a busy area for film shoots. Casting calls still make Jen nervous, although she gets picked a lot and then turns the parts down. She needs more confidence. Casting calls listings contain available jobs. The recent movie “Dear John” was filmed almost entirely in Charleston and a Robert Redford movie is now in the works.
